Sincere congratulations to our incredible Sharks team, which includes two world champions! Keep making waves and inspiring our young talent!

An incredible number of nine Masters swimmers represented the colours of our club in the World Aquatics Masters Championships in Doha, two in open water and seven in the pool competition.

Thereby, the Sharks team was Luxembourg’s largest delegation in Doha. While for several of our swimmers this was the first experience on the world stage, others are already experienced in the scene. Following extensive preparation under the lead of our exceptional Olympic head coach Jabrane Touili, all athletes performed extremely well pushing their personal boundaries in their individual races and as a team in the relays. Some outstanding results were achieved:

  • 3-time world champion (100m butterfly, 50m butterfly, 50m freestyle), 1-time vice-world champion (100m freestyle) and Top 5 (200m freestyle) for Frédéric Tonus (50-54);
  • 2-time world champion (100m freestyle, 50m butterfly), Top 4 (50m freestyle), and Top 5 (100m butterfly) for Olivia Lorton (50-54);
  • Top 4 in the 4x50m freestyle relay for Frédéric Tonus (50-54), François Cochet (40-44), Federico Cappello (40-44), and Steve Seremes (40-44);
  • Top 6 (50m freestyle) and Top 7 (100m freestyle) for Steve Seremes (40-44);
  • Top 7 (200m freestyle), Top 15 (100m freestyle), and Top 18 (50m freestyle) for Federico Cappello (40-44);
  • Top 7 in the 4x50m medley relay for Steve Seremes (40-44), Luca Bassi (30-34), Frédéric Tonus (50-54), and Federico Cappello (40-44);
  • Top 10 (3km open water) for Julia Emilia Ervio (25-29);
  • Top 14 (400m freestyle), Top 15 (100m freestyle), and Top 22 (100 butterfly) for Yusup Hashiev (30-34);
  • Top 15 (100m breaststroke), Top 16 (50m breaststroke), Top 21 (50m freestyle), and Top 25 (100m freestyle) for François Cochet (40-44);
  • Top 15 (100m breaststroke), Top 19 (50m breaststroke), and Top 26 (50m freestyle) for Luca Bassi (30-34);
  • Top 31 (3km open water) for Fabrice Trioullier (55-59).

The Sharks have their Queen and their King!

We could not be more proud of the whole Sharks Doha team leading the way to go for our young talents.

Heartfelt congratulations and keep it up!
